Contrast

 Contraindication and other safety issues

Iodine allergy, renal insufficiency, diabetes, asthma, or multiple myeloma, sickle cell anemia, and pheochromocytoma are relative contraindications to the use of iodine contrast and should be noted on request.

Serum creatinine must be checked prior to contrast administration in the following:

A) Patients over 65.
B) Diabetics.
C) Patients with chronic renal disease.
D) Patients with severe medical disorder which may compromise renal function.

5. Multiple studies requiring iodine contrast (i.e., CT, Angio, IVP, etc.) must be scheduled 24 hours apart whenever possible.
