IDC/pacemakers
The performance of MRI on patients with IDC/pacemakers is currently experimental and should be reserved for patients in whom the results of the MRI are critical to a life-threatening medical decision/plan.  Currently our department recommendation is that each request should be reviewed with a radiologist. As a general guideline, these studies typically involve a patient with a life-threatening intracranial lesion.

If there is no practical way to obtain the information without MR, the patient should then be referred

to one of the two centers in the US that are currently performing these studies.  The closest one to CSEMC, at the present time, is Johns Hopkins.
