My Parents

Hi Ashka.

The other day on the phone you asked me to write something about my parents who knew and loved you and Geoff forever.

The picture that sits in the forefront of my mind is the one that you too remember.

My father was blind from the age of 55 due to a crushing of the optic nerve. He could not see but never forgot a voice.

My mother was for all intent and purpose my father?s eyes.

When both of them were in their late 70?s my mother slipped at the supermarket. She broke her ribs, shoulder and dislocated a hip.

She was unable to walk.  When she needed to go to the bathroom she would stand on my father?s feet. He would then walk with her holding on to him and on his feet and she would direct him to walk, turn, walk turn etc.

It is a picture I will not forget of my parents hugging each other, ?walking? and ?seeing? together  through life. May we all be so happy with our predicaments.
