My early schooling was entirely at a Jewish Day School in Linksfield Johannesburg - King David School - including nursery, primary (elementary and middle) as well as high school.  The whole system was in one geographic location that was at the bottom of a small mountain(kopjie) and was beautifully lined with lush greenery.  There were between 100-150 children per grade.

Rigid British discipline was the order of the day.  We wore uniforms, were caned when naughty, chided by the prefect system if our hair was too long, or bottoms of our pants were too wide, but in general received an outstanding education.  I played in the sports teams that included soccer, tennis, rugby and swimming. I am still in contact with friends from that era.
