1+1 = 1 has both a sense of logic and of the profound.

The equation 1 + 1 = 1 does not make intuitive sense, though it communicates a crucial tenet of The Common Vein.  The component numbers in the left side of the equation, could represent the letters of the alphabet, a musical note, a brushstroke of a painting, the components of an equation, or the atom of the universe.  It is the equation that is used most commonly in The Common Vein,  and is applicable in many situations of life.  The end result (right side of the equation)  provides an illogical, unexpected,  surprising and sometimes even magical result.  It implies that whole is a unified bigger than the sum of its parts.

A few examples at a simple level

Letters and Words

When letters get together to form new words, the magic of language emerges.

Let us take the letters a, e, and w for example.   When the letters ?w? and ?e? are placed together, a new word ?we? emerges that gives us a little surprise and a new perspective of the letters.

The three letters bonded together in a different combination together result in the word ?awe?, a completely different word with a completely different meaning.

As the words build, they result in messages, emails, intimate letters, prose, poetry, reference books, or novels, each unfolding their message through the combination of the letters, and all very different.  The same magic happens to the notes of music in the hands of the composer, the brushstrokes in the hands of the artist, and of course in the world of biology to the atoms, and molecules as they build bigger units.

The new properties that result are often unexpected, and sometimes even miraculous.

The Difference Between the Mundane and the Genius

The creative units start as single entities, and when the result is a wholeness ? and close to perfection and therefore acquiring the fullness and wholesomeness of the true oneness of ?1? we consider the result genius.  This is the result that gives us tingles on our skin when the result is close to perfection or oneness and distinguishes the mundane from the genius result.  When we speak of books that touch the soul, books of greatness versus an exciting novel, we identify the difference between the mundane and the genius

Examples in Biology

A supreme  example in biology may be of an individual brain cell that does not have the power to think (or so it seems).

A Single Brain Cell Seemingly Without the Ability to Think or Emote

When this single cell is connected and organized with billions of like cells, the magical and miraculous process of thought or speech, or creativity, or even just coordinated movement manifests.

The creative human mind with all its capabilities intuitively understands  the rule of 1 + 1 = 1 expresses this instinctively in the creation of offspring , but also has a compulsion to express this in art, architecture,  music, science and many other human endeavors.  In the hands of the geniuses of the world unexpected and inspiring results manifest, greater than the sum of the parts.  The term ?units to unity?  is also used to reflect this equation.

Why use ?=1??

Why use 1 as a result rather than 3 or even 1 million for example you may ask?  In essence the perception is that there is a continuum in the organization of structure from the atom to the universe, where the parts as single units link and organize and form a new structure or a singular unit, bigger and more powerful than the individual units, only to be a part or a unit of something bigger and more powerful than itself.  The term ?units to unity? emphasises the use of the singular units to build a new singular unit and from this perspective,  1+1 = 1  is accurate.

In addition the intent of The Common Vein is to strip complexity down to its bare bones, and how much leaner and meaner can one get than just the straight stick shape of 1.

The Statue of Love sculpture inspired by love story of ?Ali and Nino? Created by Georgian artist Tamar Kvesitadze. The story is similar to Shakespeare?s Romeo and Juliet and tells of an Azerbaijani youth who falls in love with a Georgian princess but dies defending his country. The 7 ton statues start their motion at 7 P.M every day and are controlled by computer and lit with dramatic color lighting.

Not sure why this video below does not play ? it shows perfection in athletics vs non perfection.
