Spring Early Summer
This year we had a Spring clean canvas (almost) after taking down 5 70 foot Maples that gave great shade and cooling (upward drafts) but prohibited the color of sun loving plants
In the Fall of 2021 the trees were already down and early planning and early planting was started with 50% off Home Depot trees and shrubs. Most survived
The center piece on the left side was the new waterfall with a beautiful umbrella shaped Maple at its top and flanked by arbor vitae
When the Spring came we made beds of begonias to give spring and summer color and then starting adding beds and flowers by creating stone walls At the top of the garden we continued the sun loving plants to the center in order to bridge the left and center portion which prior to doing that, looked like 2 separate gardens The center had mature trees (Tolleson Blue Weeping Juniper) red maples both split leaf and traditional, Wigela Rhododendron and a very tall butterfly bush.
Built a 2 tiered bedd in front of an old stump near the top of the stair and planted blue and pink hydrangeas to cover us for prolonged colour as well as euonymus and Spiral Hinoki
We also built a bed around a stump right at the top of the stair and created a stairway and a path enabling easy access to the right side of the garden
The base of the stumps at the bottom left and top left were also fashioned into beds At bottom left we seeded the first row with orange Cosmos and Zinnias which grew like crazy) and then 2 rows of begonias . 3 Lillies did not survive well since they were covered by the annuals
